cake smash Photographer in Dallas Fort Worth
Congratulations – you made it through your baby’s first year! I am so excited to celebrate this milestone with you! Here are some tips for planning for your cake smash session. You can also view the images above and below for inspiration!
I have rompers, dresses, and overalls available for baby. If you are bringing your own outfit, I recommend something in a light or neutral color that fits well and shows babies arms and legs. If parents are being included in the photos, I recommend light, neutral clothing. I have dresses available for moms.
I recommend a small white, pastel, or naked cake (typically 5-8″). Most grocery store bakeries can make these for you (I like Tom Thumb’s.) I have flowers and greenery we can add. Some parents bring fresh flowers or fruit to decorate the cake. Please avoid red frosting and chocolate cake, as well as nonpareil sprinkles as the colors tend to run. If the cake is being refrigerated, set it out for an hour before hand so it’s closer to room temperature.
I like to keep my sessions simple and neutral to really focus on your child. I have cake stands and cake toppers available as well as a vintage high chair. Some parents choose to bring balloons, so you are welcome to do that. (I’d avoid the large mylar number balloons. They tend to show reflections and can be difficult to keep facing the correct way.)
This was a 6″ naked cake from Texas Star Bakery in Hurst. These are the flowers I have at the studio.
This was an 8″ grocery store naked cake. The mom brought baby’s breath and roses to decorate it.
This cake was a little more colorful with fresh flowers. It was a 6″ cake from @yumcakecrumbs
This was a 4″ grocery store cake
NOTES FROM MY CLIENTS
“I had a vision for our family photos and our session was everything we wanted and more. Jamie Lynn was so kind and patient with our crazy kids and made us look amazing. We will be coming back for photos every year!”
